Etwa 500.000 Helferinnen standen im Zweiten Weltkrieg im Einsatz bei der Wehrmacht: Stabs- und Nachrichtenhelferinnen halfen im Büro und am Klappenschrank bei der Verwaltung der besetzten Gebiete, Flakhelferinnen kämpften an der Luftkriegsfront im Deutschen Reich. Ihr Einsatz unterscheidet sich von den Bildern, die das kollektive Gedächtnis über die Frauengeschichte des Nationalsozialismus gespeichert hat: Die jungen Frauen erlebten Militär und Gewalt hautnah und hatten aktiv Anteil an der deutschen Kriegführung. Der militärische Masseneinsatz von Frauen war historisch traditionslos. Dennoch hielten viele im buchstäblichen wie übertragenen Sinne die Stellung. Auf der Basis von Interviews hat Franka Maubach die Kriegserfahrungen, die Vorprägungen und die Nachwirkungen nach 1945 untersucht und so das kriegsgeprägte biographische Profil dieser Frauengeneration rekonstruiert. Around 500,000 female helpers were deployed in the Wehrmacht during the Second World War: female staff and intelligence helpers assisted in the office and at the flap cabinet in the administration of the occupied territories, female flak helpers fought on the air war front in the German Reich. Their deployment differs from the images that the collective memory has stored about the history of women under National Socialism: The young women experienced military and violence first-hand and took an active part in German warfare. The military mass deployment of women was historically without tradition. Nevertheless, many of them held their ground, both literally and figuratively. On the basis of interviews, Franka Maubach has investigated the war experiences, the pre-influences and the aftermath after 1945 and thus reconstructed the war-influenced biographical profile of this generation of women.
