The School of Salamanca or “Spanish late scholasticism” of the 16th and early 17th centuries is one of the most influential epochs of early modern European thought because of its importance for jurisprudence and political philosophy. The project has two objectives: Firstly, to digitally record and present the central texts of the “School of Salamanca” in an overall corpus that follows uniform edition guidelines and is systematically searchable. Secondly, a dictionary of their legal, political and philosophical terms is to be created on the basis of these sources. Both will provide a new basis for research on late scholasticism, since neither a corresponding source collection nor a historical-semantic special dictionary is yet available.

Die Schule von Salamanca oder „spanische Spätscholastik“ des 16. und frühen 17. Jahrhunderts zählt wegen ihrer Bedeutung für die Rechtswissenschaft und die politische Philosophie zu den wirkmächtigsten Epochen des frühneuzeitlichen europäischen Denkens. Im Rahmen des Vorhabens werden zwei Ziele verfolgt: Zum einen sollen die zentralen Texte der „Schule von Salamanca“ digital erfasst und in einem Gesamtcorpus präsentiert werden, das einheitlichen Editionsrichtlinien folgt und systematisch durchsuchbar ist. Zum anderen soll auf der Grundlage dieser Quellen ein Wörterbuch ihrer juristischen, politischen und philosophischen Termini geschaffen werden. Beides wird der Forschung zur Spätscholastik eine neue Arbeitsgrundlage bereiten, da bislang weder eine entsprechende Quellensammlung noch ein historisch-semantisches Spezialwörterbuch vorliegen.
