The project analyses the linguistic variation of the verbal aspect among the Slavic languages. We compare the standard languages of Russian, Polish and Czech. The project is based in the theoretical assumption that the central task of the category of aspect consists in the recategorization of the actional function of verbs depending on context. The focus is on Russian. Furthermore, we try to answer the question which semantic parameters are relevant for the choice of aspect, and in which cases the divergence from the default generates additional meanings.
