Das Thema des Vorhabens ist die kritische Edition, Übersetzung und Kommentierung eines Teils des bedeutendsten mandäischen Werkes, des Ginza, der aus zwei Teilen besteht, dem „rechten Ginza“ und dem „linken Ginza“. Der Linke Ginza soll aufgrund aller verfügbaren Handschriften aus öffentlichen Bibliotheken (Paris, Oxford, London, Leiden), einer Auswahl von zwei Handschriften aus einer Privatbibliothek (Nijmegen, Niederlande) sowie eines gedruckten Textes ediert und sowohl in Form einer digitalen Präsentation durch die Berlin-Brandenburgische Akademie der Wissenschaften im open access zugänglich gemacht als auch als Buch vorgelegt werden. In der beantragten Forschungsdauer von drei Jahren sollen folgende Ziele erreicht werden: die Darbietung einer kritischen Edition für interessierte Wissenschaftler aller Fachrichtungen aber auch für die mandäische Gemeinde, die Übersetzung sowie die sprachliche Erschließung des Textes, die Kommentierung mythologischer Motive sowie die Angabe historischer und religionswissenschaftlicher Bezüge im Kontext der mandäischen Literatur als auch spätantiker Quellen (Judentum, Christentum, Zoroastrismus, Gnosis). deu
