The main objective of the research work is the comprehensive collection and preparation of archival and musical sources on the social and institutional history of the Southwest German court chapels. Comparative institutional-historical questions in the pan-European context as well as stylistic-critical studies on the compositional practice of court and nobility orchestras, studies on their role in the development of the modern orchestra, including the innovations in instrument making in the 18th century and questions of historical performance practice are further focal points of the research work. The research results will be published as full-texts on the homepage (www.hof-musik.de) under "Publications" in the section "My Documents".
